If you are worried about how your vehicle is going to survive summer’s high temperatures, schedule a car diagnostic service at your trusted auto shop Your mechanic will analyze the overall performance of your vehicle, conduct an inspection of your engine, and then advise if it’s time to tune up your car or if some other type of repair is needed. A few adjustments may be all that is needed to keep your car going strong.

Your car may seem to be operating just fine, but you may notice it is losing some of its power and performance capabilities. To make sure your car is operating at its optimum level of efficiency, scheduling a car diagnostic is a good idea. Your mechanic will uniquely fit a tune up for your car based on its age, mileage, and manufacturer’s recommendations.

So what does a car tune up include? Here is a general list:

  • Spark plugs—Spark plugs in good condition should be able to ignite the fuel with a light tan or gray insulator firing noses. You may start to notice problems in the engine if they are discolored.
  • Fuel pump and filter—Changing the fuel filter allow the fuel pump to function most efficiently.
  • Fuel injectors—Make sure that dirt or other deposits are not restricting the amount of fuel delivered to the engine and that the efficiency of the spark plugs is not affected.
  • Air filter—Replace the air filter about once a year so the engine receives the air it needs to run properly.
  • Timing—An adjustment to the engine timing and idle may be needed.
  • PCV—The PCV valve, which reduces the number of toxic emissions from your vehicle, can clog up over time. It can be replaced as needed.
  • Points and condenser—These will need to be cleaned periodically.
  • Inspection of other operating systems—Other systems, such as the brakes, suspension, and air conditioning unit, should be inspected on a regular basis.
  • Other items—Replace the oxygen sensor, distributor cap, oil, and coolant as necessary.
